From time to time I have provided information at Hope Stationery for people who do a lot of text printing, and little or no colour printing, in order that they can reduce their printing costs by using a monochrome (black only) laser printer for which we can supply compatible toner cartridges.

Laser printers have come down in price dramatically during the last few years, particularly monochrome single function machines. However the consumer needs to be aware that a cheap printer can sometimes turn into an expensive printer if the toner cartridge costs as much as $200.00, or more. This is still less expensive than inkjet printing since the number of pages which can be printed is usually in the thousands rather than the hundreds you can squeeze out of a set of inkjet cartridges, and of course inkjet printers require the full set of colour cartridges even though you may only be printing black text.

The trick is to find a laser printer, the toner cartridges for which are not very expensive, or better still, are available as a compatible, made by a different company, which are considerably less expensive

On this page I will be posting the latest information I can find about good deals (under $200.00) for printers, both laser and inkjet, and the cost of the cartridges for those machines. Be aware that these deals on printers seldom last more than a week, though the cartridge costs will generally not vary much.
